How to Deal Damage With 5 Different Weapons

The release of any Fortnite season is always a special one, as it seems Epic has a way of captivating gaming fans worldwide with its dramatic season-ending events. At the end of Season 4, we all witnessed the epic battle between the Marvel characters and the devourer of worlds, Galactus, but this season is taking things back to basics.

Now, a brand new season of Fortnite has been released all over the world. Chapter 2 Season 7 is looking to change things drastically, completely shaking up the meta and the dynamics of the game. As per tradition, Fortnite's arsenal of weapons has been seriously chopped and changed this season, so you'll need to be on guard if you're looking to snatch a few victory royales.

So if you're looking to get the upper hand on your opponents, read on, because we're about to break down the best weapons for the job right here, right now.

Before we get into our Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7 weapon tier list you'll need to get the hang of crafting.

Crafting in Fortnite

In Season 6, Fortnite got a crafting mechanic, which you can use to upgrade your weapons in a new tab in your inventory. While you'll still be able to find most weapons as ground loot, crafting is the most consistent way of getting your hands on the best weapons.

Makeshift weapons have gone, but crafting remains. There's a new type of material to look out for this season, as Fortnite gets with the modern times. Nuts and Bolts replace Mechanical Parts and Animal Bones, and can be used to upgrade a Heavy Assault Rifle to a Burst Assault Rifle, upgrade a Pump Shotgun to a Lever Action Shotgun, and a Suppressed SMG to a Rapid Fire SMG.

It's worth noting that, unlike last season, crafting a weapon does not increase its rarity. This will make crafting a less prominent part of Fortnite matches, but be on the eye out for a set of Nuts and Bolts to craft that AUG.

Simply head into your inventory and select the weapon you want to craft.

Fortnite Weapons Tier list

Tier 1

This tier is reserved for the top picks for your Fortnite arsenal – the best weapons that will be your go-to in most scenarios. These are the weapons most professional players will be carrying most of the time too. If you come across one of these in your games, make sure you pick it up or upgrade it to one of the higher rarities.

Rail Gun

The Rail Gun is the first alien tech weapon in our Fortnite tier list, and for good reason. The xenos laser takes a couple of seconds to charge up, but it does big damage to opponents and – most importantly – shoots straight through builds.

While the rate of fire is low and reload time high, the sheer damage that the Rail Gun produces will mean you see a lot of these in your Fortnite games, especially early in the season. It's worth keeping one in your inventory, if only for those build-a-thon endgames.

Pulse Rifle

Another alien addition, the Pulse Rifle works a little bit like the Stark Rifles of old. It has a good rate of fire if you're hipfiring, but that slows right down if you aim down sights.

The damage is a little lacklustre from these, so expect it to drop down the tier list once players have had their initial fun.

Pump Shotgun

The Pump Shotgun has been unvaulted and while it may have a relatively low rate of fire, it can deal a brutal 100 damage per shot if you're accurate enough.

The Pump Shotgun had a damage boost last season, from 100/110 for Epic and Legendary variants to 108/116. Less rare versions have a bigger damage boost, but all have had the headshot multiplier reduced from 2x to 1.75x.

AUG (Burst Assault Rifle)

The Burst Assault Rifle, otherwise known as the AUG, is back! The AUG is a Fortnite staple, so expect good players to be carrying one of these in their inventories for decisive moments.

Since the AUG was Unvaulted in Fortnite Season 7,

The SCAR has always been regarded as one of the best weapons in the game, topping the tier lists season after season. Offering 35 damage to the body, finding these rifles for the middle to late game is an absolute game changer.

Tactical Shotgun

The Tactical Shotgun is a Fortnite classic, and Epic Games has been kind enough to unvault it midway through Chapter 2 Season 6. The automatic hitscan shotgun is one of the best Fortnite weapons at short range, and can deal up to 132 DPS at legendary rarity – providing you hit all your pellets.

Expect to see a lot of these coming out in the closing circles for the remainder of the season.

Tier 2

A little step down from Tier 1, these Tier 2 weapons are probably the ones you'll feel most comfortable with, but don't pack as much of a punch as the above.

P90

The highest iteration of the submachine gun has returned this season and it is still one of the best guns the game has to offer. Quickly switching to a P90 during a fight will be one of the go-to plays this season, mark our words.

Bolt-Action Sniper

The Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle has been Unvaulted for Season 7, and expect it to dominate the meta once again. If clicking head is your thing, then be sure to grab a Sniper of a high rarity.

There's not a lot else to say about the Bolt-Action Sniper that you don't already know – it's a powerful weapon in the right hands. Just make sure they're your hands, and not your opponent's.

Drum Shotgun

The Drum Shotgun is back, kinda, and it seems pretty powerful. By upgrading your Makeshift Shotgun using Animal Bones, you can get your hands on this short-ranged  monster. The Primal Shotgun is not quite the same as the Drum Shotgun, instead firing shells in two-round bursts, but it is still a deadly addition to your arsenal.

We like pairing it up with the Pump Shotgun – which does more damage – as you're more likely to score consistent hits with a two-round burst after your initial damage. From our early experiences, both shotguns are well worth a spot in your inventory, and keeping hold of both can be useful if you have the space.

Tier 3

Moving another tier down now and this one is reserved for weapons that might not be your first choice. Some of these might be controversial depending on your playstyle, so take some of these with a pinch of salt.

Submachine gun

The submachine gun isn't always the best option, especially since its fire rate has been nerfed. It falls well below the stats of the Tactical Submachine Gun, but it still does a relatively decent amount of damage.

Rocket Launcher

This weapon can be pretty hard to find, but it is a must-have if you find one. Offering great damage with an incredible splash radius, the Rocket Launcher is, and always will be, one of the best weapons in Fortnite. The reload time is a little lengthy, but if you hit your shots it can one-shot opponents.

Kymera Ray Gun

The Kymera Ray Gun is another new addition for Fortnite Season 7, and it fires a beam of energy which deals a small amount of damage. It looks pretty cool, but the damage is underwhelming to be completely useful.

The beam of energy coming from your weapon is also a dead giveaway for your location, however, so watch out for third parties joining your fights.

Desert Eagle

The Desert Eagle is the final weapon Unvaulted to tackle the alien invasion, however it leaves something to be desired. It does big damage if you land a hit, but its slow rate of fire means we prefer other options.

Tier 4

This tier is reserved for weapons that are average at best, so use these at your own risk.

Tactical Submachine gun

This weapon is nowhere near as powerful as it once was, but it still gets the job done. An insanely high fire rate separates this weapon from the other SMGs. It's also the perfect weapon to use after a particularly spicy drop.

Infantry Rifle

The second weapon Unvaulted in Fortnite patch 16.30, the Infantry Rifle was briefly the closest thing you could get to a sniper rifle. Although technically an AR, the Infantry Rifle is better suited to long range engagements.

However, the reintroduction of Sniper Rifles in Fortnite Season 7 renders the Infantry Rifle pretty redundant, and there are much better options in the Assault Rifle class that offer a better choice.

Tier 5

We're scraping the barrel with Tier 5, but what did you expect? These weapons should only be used if there's nothing else around.

Revolver

The Revolver makes an unwelcome return to Fortnite in Chapter 2 Season 6. There's not really much to say about this gun other than avoid it. Its slow rate of fire makes it hard to defend, although it does a fair amount of damage if you can score a headshot.

Every other weapon has been vaulted this season, including all Sniper Rifles and last season's Mythic weapons.
